Shri Cloth Market Institute of Professional Studies, Indore organized a National Webinar on the topic "How to be Cyber secure in Post Covid-19” on 4th August 2020. On this occasion, a Live Session (on zoom) was conducted on "Cyber-Crime Prevention in post COVID situation" by Pro. Gourav Rawal, Cyber Crime Expert/Trainer (PRTS, PTC and Indore Police). He attempted to throw light on the issues and threats that the individuals are facing during online transactions in the current pandemic situation.
He started his session with the introduction of cyber-crime and its types. Prof. Rawal apprised that we must switch off the GEO Tagging or Location access option in our mobile devices which by default remains switched on at the time of purchasing new cell phone. On the part of social media provision, he jogged everyone's memory to be aware while updating or posting the personal information on the social media accounts. Prof. Gourav also urged not to share the personal details like phone no., local address, current location and original DOB on any type of social platform for the hackers can misuse all these personal details for their ill intensions.
Prof. Rawal enlightened that the Digital foot prints would not be completely removed or destroyed, so one should always be alert before uploading any content and also think twice before typing anything in this virtual world, otherwise, resultantly, one can be caught by one or the other security agency, he said.
Cyber Security Expert Gourav Rawal illuminated about various aspects of cyber hygiene such as password protection, debit / credit card precaution, anti-virus for mobile phones and also made everyone aware about buying and selling debit / credit card information on Dark net. He also added in his lecture about the identity theft using email or Facebook ID, password, mobile phone, debit card, credit card and PAN card.
He then guided about certain provisions under Indian IT Act 2000/2008 regarding the safeguards and correctives for cyber-crime.
Faculty members and staff members enthusiastically participated in the same giving a good response. The webinar was headed by Principal Dr. Vasudev Mishra, convened by Prof. Vishwamitra Tiwari and moderated by Dr. Neeti Chaturvedi. Cyber security expert Prof. Gourav Rawal gave information about various aspects of cyber-crime to the students and faculty members. Towards the conclusion of the session, queries of participants regarding cyber security were convincingly resolved by Mr. Gourav Rawal.
